Winch 101

Winch 101

Winches were developed as a device that hauls or lifts for the purpose of towing or moving a vehicle. A winch is made up of rope, cable or chain and is wound around a horizontal rotating drum which turns by a crank or motor. Winches are devices that are designed to lift heavy objects. They work by creating tension of the rope through adjusting the tension of the rope.

The primary use of winches on vehicles is to help get vehicles unstuck if they get stuck while on an off-roading adventure. There are many different types of winches as some have rope, chain, or cable and all can lift different weights. So, getting the right one for you and your needs is very important.
