Why you should consider Tough Dog Foam Cell Shock Absorbers

Tough Dog is a leading name when it comes to suspension and GVM upgrades.

Today, we’re running through the unique benefits of their Foam Cell Shock Absorber when it comes to your vehicle’s suspension.

In more traditional shock designs, cavitation and aeration can lead to poorer performance over long term oscillation exposure. Essentially, as the shock is worked during a journey – especially on harsh surfaces – the oil viscosity lowers. This is caused by the mixing of oil and gas in the outer chamber, which causes air bubbles to form.

These air bubbles reduce the resistance in the valve, preventing optimal shock performance.

In contrast, Tough Dog’s Foam Cell shock uses a ‘micro-cellular foam insert’ which dramatically reduces the effects of shock fade.

The insert features trapped gas micro cells, and takes up the space usually occupied by air or nitrogen gas in the shock. This completely removes the chance of bubbles forming, and therefore keeps your shocks performing better for longer.

Other features of the Tough Dog Foam Cell shock include it’s twin tube design, hydraulic rebound stop, high temperature ‘all weather’ rod, rod wiper seal and multi lip seal, 18mm double chrome-plated rod, multi stage velocity sensitive valving, additional welding on all studs & eyerings, and a 4 year / unlimited km recreational warranty (conditions apply).

So, regardless of whether you’re just wanting to go offroading on the occasional weekend, or need great all-round performance all year, Tough Dog’s Foam Cell shocks can handle it.
