Exhaust 101

Exhaust 101

The Exhaust system in your vehicle is an extremely important part of your vehicle as it carries away the gasses created from the engine.

The exhaust system within your vehicle has 3 main functions which include:

  • Directing all the fumes caused by the engine to go behind the vehicle.
  • Reducing the noise caused by the engine
  • Reducing the emissions by decreasing the number of toxic chemicals in the fumes.

The main functions of your vehicle’s exhaust system are to control noise, carry away gases, improve engine performance, and improve fuel consumption. The exhaust controls noise as the engine’s gases travel through the vehicle’s muffler which dampens the sound of the gases leaving the vehicle. The exhaust system in your vehicle improves the engine’s performance and fuel consumption through expelling the gases quickly which allows oxygen to be taken in which generates more power.
